Parents, Community Members, Students, Faculty, and Staff,


The last few months have been devoted to finding a resolution, and a strong plan forward with the Mohawk Education Association, and shared support of our students. 

 

I am happy to report that on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Mohawk Education Association (MEA) Members voted to accept a new three-year contract. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Mohawk Board of Education voted 5-0 on the tentative agreement and ratified the teacher’s contract.

 

The new contract is a repackaged version of the tentative agreement that was offered in June. The new contract is in effect from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, and includes the following:

  • 3%, 3.75%, 4% annual raises for the next three years and maintenance of all Step increases.

  • Insurance Premium employee contributions in year 1, 7.5%, year 2, 9% and year 3, 11%.

  • Signing bonus of $3,000 for new teachers hired after July 1, 2023, paid in the last pay in June of the employee’s third consecutive year of employment.

  • Increase in the academic work rate from $22 per hour to $27 per hour.

  • Increase in the amount of payment made for unused personal days at the end of each school year from $100 per day to $125 per unused day

  • Change in the attendance bonus, from requiring a full year of perfect attendance in order to earn a $600 bonus, to only requiring a semester of perfect attendance to earn a $300 bonus, which may be earned for each semester.
