The last few months have been devoted to finding a resolution, and a strong plan forward with the Mohawk Education Association, and shared support of our students.
I am happy to report that on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Mohawk Education Association (MEA) Members voted to accept a new three-year contract. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Mohawk Board of Education voted 5-0 on the tentative agreement and ratified the teacher’s contract.
The new contract is a repackaged version of the tentative agreement that was offered in June. The new contract is in effect from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, and includes the following:
3%, 3.75%, 4% annual raises for the next three years and maintenance of all Step increases.
Insurance Premium employee contributions in year 1, 7.5%, year 2, 9% and year 3, 11%.
Signing bonus of $3,000 for new teachers hired after July 1, 2023, paid in the last pay in June of the employee’s third consecutive year of employment.
Increase in the academic work rate from $22 per hour to $27 per hour.
Increase in the amount of payment made for unused personal days at the end of each school year from $100 per day to $125 per unused day
Change in the attendance bonus, from requiring a full year of perfect attendance in order to earn a $600 bonus, to only requiring a semester of perfect attendance to earn a $300 bonus, which may be earned for each semester.
