To Parents, Guardians, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

I am informing you that we are 42 days away from the solar eclipse that will impact Wyandot, Seneca, and the surrounding counties in Ohio. I want to share with all of you some basic housekeeping items for community members in preparation for this event and some reminders for parents and guardians for school.

Housekeeping items:

  • Make sure to have plenty of food and water in your house prior to April 5, 2024

  • Make sure to have your vehicles and gas cans filled with fuel prior to April 5, 2024

  • Mohawk Local Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, April 8, 2024

  • Switch your cell phones to wifi calling on Sunday, April 7, 2024

  • Postpone any deliveries to your house from April 5, 2024-April 8, 2024

Actual eclipse timeline of events for us on April 8, 2024:

Start of the partial eclipse:     1:57 p.m.

Totality of the eclipse:        3:11 p.m.

Totality of the eclipse ends:     3:15 p.m.

End of the eclipse:        4:27 p.m.

The following days and educational format for Mohawk Local Schools PreK-12 for the solar eclipse:

Friday, April 5, 2024-Mohawk Local Schools will be OPEN for in-person learning.

Monday, April 8, 2024-Mohawk Local Schools will be CLOSED.

Tuesday, April 9, 2024-Mohawk Local Schools will be OPEN for in-person learning, but this is subject to change due to the circumstances around the district at the time.
