The Mohawk Local Board of Education temporarily authorizes the employment of substitute teachers who do not hold post-secondary degrees, as is otherwise required pursuant to Ohio law and regulations, including Ohio Revised Code 3319.226 and 3319.30.

Custodian, Afternoon Shift, 9 Month Position
DATE: October 23, 2023
POSITION VACANCY: CUSTODIAN, AFTERNOON SHIFT, 9 MONTH POSITION
Essential Functions:
• Ensure safety of students and staff
• Promote good safety practices and procedures
• Interact in a positive manner with staff,students and parents
• Secure building each working day and see that all lights(except night lights) are turned off and all persons are out of the
building before leaving the premises on afternoon shift
• Provisions will be made for the storage of tools and supplies, and allsuch cleaning materials, tools and supplies must be
kept in their proper places. Keep work and storage areas neat and orderly
• During the hours when teachers and pupils are admitted to the building, the custodian shall cooperate with the Principal
in maintaining proper physical conditions
• Report excessive repair work to the Maintenance Director. Routine repair work is the responsibility of the custodian
and is not to be tasked to the Maintenance Director
• Assist in receiving and storing all supplies and equipment, except those educational supplies that shall be distributed to
the various departments as directed by the Building Principal or Assistant Building Principal
• Assist in the unloading of supplies delivered to the building
• In the event of heavy snow all inside and outside walks surrounding the building must be kept plowed,shoveled and
salted ifin any icy condition. All steps and entrances to the building must be free from ice and snow and salted if needed
before the opening of school each day
• Floors must be mopped or cleaned to avoid becoming slippery
• Cooperate with the local and state fire inspectors, as well as with the boiler inspector
• Assist in inventory of all janitorial supplies
• Complete annual summer work such as the cleaning of all windows, cutting grass, etc. as assigned
• Assist the maintenance person if directed to do so
• The floors of all classrooms, corridors, and stairways, libraries, gymnasiums, dining rooms, industrial arts rooms, toilet
rooms, locker rooms, and officess hall be swept daily or as directed the Building Principal, Assistant Building Principal
and the Maintenance Director
• All furniture and woodwork such as window sills, baseboards,stairrails, doors, window frames, and corridor lockers
must be thoroughly dusted
• The floors in all toilet rooms, locker rooms and shower rooms are to be mopped daily or as directed by Building
Principal, Assistant Building Principal and the Maintenance Director. Mop weekly, or as directed, all offices,stairways
and corridors
• Gymnasium floors should be mopped and refinished as directed
• Toilet bowls and urinals must be washed daily and treated with disinfectant at least once each week. All wash basins and
drinking fountains must be cleaned with scouring powder or equivalent daily
• All excelsior, paper,sweepings,rags or other rubbish of inflammable nature must be gathered daily in bags or other
containers provided and placed in the dumpster or such locations as are designated by the head custodian
• Assist in care for playground area, i.e., properly prepared for recess, emergencies, drills

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• As may be assigned by Building Principal, Assistant Building Principal, and the Maintenance Director
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One to two years related experience preferred
• Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, heating/cooling systems
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common hand tools
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of electrical and plumbing repairs
• Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
• Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, e.g., OSHA/PERRAC training
• Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels
• Working knowledge of assigned building and alarm systems
• Must be knowledgeable in the correct way to repair a variety of materials, i.e., floor tile replacement, repairs to wood,
plastic, fiberglass, etc.
• Knowledge of air compressor/thermostats/HVAC systems (including boilers)
• Must be able to climb, lift heavy equipment and furniture, and operate mowing equipment
• Ability to work well with others
• Must be willing to obtain, or have, a CDL with school bus endorsement

Full Time Bus Driver, AM/PM
DATE: October 16, 2023
POSITION VACANCY: FULL TIME BUS DRIVER, AM/PM
Essential Functions:
• Ensure safety of students and staff
• Transport students safely and efficiently to and from school and school related events
• Follow assigned bus routes and schedules
• Maintain and submit on time all required records and information, including fuel reports and data for T1 reporting
• Report any mechanical problems to the mechanic
• Keep assigned vehicle neat and clean
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of changes in driving laws as they apply to transporting school children
• Obey all traffic laws
• Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
• Maintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities as prescribed
• Notify the transportation coordinator/Superintendent in case of mechanical failure or lateness
• Discharge students only at authorized stops
• Transport only authorized students
• Report all accidents and complete required reports
• Enforce applicable federal and state laws, and the Board of Education policies
• Complete established pre-trip inspection of vehicle
• Report any hazardous conditions along the existing route to the transportation coordinator
• Attend bus driver meetings and be available in the event of emergency dismissal
• Notify the transportation coordinator in case of illness in order to permit time to secure a substitute driver
• Share in the responsibility for driving for a school-sponsored event and/or approved field trip
• Conduct front door, rear door and combination front and rear door emergency evacuation drills
• Prepare reports, route maps, schedules, pupil lists, and accident reports as required by the State of Ohio, Ohio
Department of Education, and the Board of Education
• Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g. student identification information, student medication
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, conversation and by the safe and professional operation
of a school bus
• Attend meetings and in-services as required
• Fill out incidents report in regard to inappropriate student behavior per the district guidelines
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Warm up the engine gradually in cold weather
• Complete seating charts
• Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor/Superintendent
Qualifications:
• Appropriate state of Ohio bus certification/license
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Esports Advisor

Essential Functions:
• Ensure safety of students and staff
• Meet with students (parents if applicable) to discuss agenda, program, budget and/or fund-raising activities for the
year; develop same consistent with school policy
• Schedule, coordinate and supervise all program and fund-raising activities
• Conduct regular meetings and develop agenda
• Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student records, etc.
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
• Attend meetings and in-services as required
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist treasurer in maintaining accurate financial records regarding fund raising activities, and deposit fund raising
moneys and receipts with school treasurer
• Coordinate activities and events of the group/organization and securing of chaperones and all operational aspects
• Promote organization’s activities
• Delegate work, ensure proper scheduling and implementation of programs by others, and supervise same
• Devise and implement quality standards for organization’s activities
• Prepare news releases as appropriate
• Serve as a role model for students
• Interact with staff, administration, and/or Board of Education and present information as requested
• Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university
• Leadership experience preferred
• State of Ohio teaching certificate/license
